Boca Raton (Fla.) Resort & Club, A Waldorf Astoria Resort, will be unveiling its newly renovated Cathedral Ballroom in April.
The 6,045-sq. ft. waterfront ballroom located in The Cloister, the resort’s original signature building, has been restored to its classic beauty. Drawing inspiration from patterns developed by the House of Fortuny, a Venetian fabric company in operation for over 100 years, the design includes an elaborate carpet in cobalt blue and renaissance gold, a focal point of the ballroom.
Originally introduced in 1926, the Cathedral Ballroom has played host to movie legends, U.S. Presidents, and trainees and officers of the Boca Raton Army Air Field during World War II, when the resort served as the only airborne radar training facility in the U.S. The original structure of the Resort estate, The Cloister, was built in 1926 by Addison Mizner.
Boca Raton Resort & Club also consists of the Yacht Club, the Tower, the Bungalows, the Boca Country Club, and the Boca Beach Club, which reopened in 2009 after a $120 million renovation. The property features two 18-hole championship golf courses, 30 tennis courts, a Waldorf Astoria Spa, a golf clubhouse, seven pools, a 32-slip marina with full fishing and boating facilities, and a half-mile of private beach.
The resort features 1,047 deluxe guestrooms, including 187 total suites, and more than 200,000 sq. ft. of customizable indoor, outdoor, and oceanfront meeting space, including the Mizner Center, a 128,000-sq. ft. meeting venue.
