The Bowling Green, Fla., resort will open a third golf course, Streamsong Black, with an accompanying clubhouse in fall 2017. In the meantime, the resort is expanding its events calendar, with a wine showcase with JUSTIN Winery and Landmark Vineyards scheduled for December 8.
As the Streamsong Resort in Bowling Green, Fla., continues to add a third golf course to its two award-winning ones, the property is stretching itself with a special event early next month, the Tampa Bay (Fla.) Business Journal reported.
The luxury resort will be showcasing award-winning wines from JUSTIN Winery and Landmark Vineyards on December 8, and the resort’s chef, Michael Ford, said the varietals that the wineries “produce give our culinary team the freedom to create some truly unique and imaginative dishes,” the Business Journal reported.
Streamsong Resort was developed by the Mosaic Co. and is operated by Interstate Hotels & Resorts. C&RB featured the resort in its November 2013 cover story (“Putting the Pieces Together at Streamsong Resort“).
The resort has approximately 300 permanent employees plus more than 100 caddies. Guests come from the United Kingdom, Canada, Scotland, Ireland, France, Brazil, Japan and Australia among other countries, said Tom Sunnarborg, vice president of Land Development and Management of Mosaic. January through late April/early May are the strongest season for the resort, and guests from Australia and New Zealand bolster the shoulder season, Sunnarborg said. “Our summer traffic is largely correlated to the weather in the north.”
The golf courses are managed by KemperSports. The resort is currently is constructing its third golf course—Streamsong Black— which should be completed by next October. It will have a smaller clubhouse, but the course itself will be a bit larger that the other two, Streamsong Blue and Streamsong Red, the Business Journal reported.
“It will be a par 73 instead of a par 72,” Sunnarborg said. “There are five par 5s, which adds intrigue to the scoring.”
Jim Bullock, the resort’s director of sales and marketing, noted that “the same architect who did the Rio Olympics golf course designed the courses at Streamsong.”
Streamsong has approximately 24,600 sq. ft. of conference and meeting space, along with 40,000 sq. ft. of outdoor event space between the Lodge and Clubhouse, the Business Journal reported.
“We do well with the Florida corporations and we’re drawing national and international attention,” Bullock said.
