Pfister Farms and Trucking LLC bought the New Holstein, Wis., property on December 2 with plans to put the property to agricultural use. Understanding “the significant value and emotional connection the golfers in this area have to Badger Creek,” the owners are open to selling the business, as a golf course, to an interested buyer.
On December 2, Pfister Farms and Trucking LLC bought Badger Creek Golf Course in New Holstein, Wis., for $1.44 million, with plans to put the property to agricultural use rather than maintain it as a golf course.
“Understanding the local stigma that comes with closing a beloved facility, like Badger Creek, the new owners, Don and Mike Pfister, are willing to enter negotiations with a new owner,” the club said in a statement released to media and on the club’s social media pages, in a release titled “The Future of Badger Creek is in your hands.”
“This is an opportunity for each of us to pitch in. If you would like to see the course remain open, help spread the word in finding the next owner,” the release stated.
Members with “big ideas” or interested buyers are encouraged to contact the club directly at [email protected].
The semi-private Badger Creek features an 18-hole golf course by Mattingly-Kuehn Golf Design, a clubhouse featuring casual dining, banquets and event space, and a practice range. It opened in 1993 as a nine-hole facility and added the front nine the following year.
Badger Creek closed for the season on November 8, and will reopen on January 29, 2016 for a Friday Fish Fry.
