All Pro Holdings LLC has paid $3.8 million for Hastings (Minn.) Country Club, with plans to reopen in spring as a semi-private club. Legacy Golf Club in Lakewood Ranch, Fla., which was part of a ClubCorp acquisition earlier this year, was purchased by Jon Whittemore for $3.4 million. Carol McLean-Wright placed the winning bid of $1.4 million for 1000 Acres Ranch Resort in Stony Creek, N.Y., at bankruptcy auction.
Golf course properties in Minnesota, Florida and New York are changing hands this week:
- St. Paul, Minn.-based All Pro Holdings LLC, a private investment group, has paid $3.8 million in cash for Hastings (Minn.) Country Club in a sale that closed November 13, the Minneapolis-based Finance & Commerce reported. The new owners plan to reopen in spring as a semi-private club that has daily rates available to the public, said new General Manager Todd Crane. The 23,312-sq. ft. dining and banquet facility, built in 2001, will reopen but will offer a more casual dining menu along with a full bar. The new owners may consider future development uses on the site if the golf course’s new business model doesn’t work out, Crane said, but declined to speculate any further to Finance & Commerce.
- Legacy Golf Club in Lakewood Ranch, Fla., which was part of a ClubCorp acquisition in March, has once again changed hands. Jon Whittemore, who owns two other courses in the area, paid $3.4 million for the public golf club, which features an 18-hole championship course designed by Arnold Palmer, practice facilities and a 5,400-sq. ft. clubhouse, the Sarasota, Fla., Herald-Tribune reported. Whittemore’s Legacy Golf Holdings LLC financed the purchase with a $1.8 million loan from Sabal Palm Bank of Sarasota and a $1.3 million loan from the U.S. Small Business Administration. In March, a Whittemore company paid $3.25 million for the 233-acre Serenoa Golf Course in Sarasota, and last year, another of his companies paid $1.5 million for the 139-acre Rolling Green Golf Club, also in Sarasota.
- Carol McLean-Wright placed the winning bid of $1,405,000 for 1000 Acres Ranch Resort in Stony Creek, N.Y., at bankruptcy auction this week, the Glens Falls (N.Y.) Post-Star reported. McLean-Wright plans to keep the property operating primarily as a tourist attraction and horse ranch, though the plan is to make it a year-round business in the future. “We want to operate the resort as-is, as a full, operating family ranch/resort accommodating the people who have been coming here for generations, but we also want to phase in a science camp, and we are solidifying relationships with Skidmore right now,” McLean-Wright said.
