The Venice, Fla., property celebrated the reopening of one of its two 18-hole golf courses on October 5, after reconstructing and re-grassing putting surfaces, and rebuilding green-side bunkers to feature new drainage, liner systems, and G-angle sand.
On October 5, Plantation Golf & Country Club in Venice, Fla., celebrated the reopening of Panther, one of its Ron Garl-designed golf courses.
The ribbon cutting was followed by two consecutive shotgun starts allowing 128 golf members each start to “play it first.” Golfer Michael Baran noted the updated golf course “is a pleasure to play.”
Plantation is a private, member-owned club with two 18-hole golf courses designed by Garl, who aided the staff in getting the greens, putting surfaces, and bunkers restored, resurfaced, and resodded.
“The Panther is reopening after a successful renovation project on all green complexes over the summer months,” said Russ Geiger, Superintendent Golf Maintenance. “The putting surfaces were reconstructed and grassed with new Tif Eagle Bermuda turf and all green-side bunkers have been rebuilt featuring new drainage, state-of-the-art liner systems and new G-angle sand.”
“With the addition of new green surfaces on the Panther Course, this course will be the course of choice!” said Head Golf Pro Mike Domalske.
“The recent improvements to the Panther course will undoubtedly raise the standard of conditioning at the Plantation and compliment the already challenging Bobcat golf course,” Geiger added.
