The $1.3 million renovation features a zero-depth entry pool, a mushroom fountain, resort-style water slide, and a separate new splash wading pool. The building also houses a full-service poolside café and bar, new locker facilities, and a breezeway connecting the center with the tennis facilities.
The Sylvania Area Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting ceremony on August 6 at 11 a.m. to unveil Sylvania (Ohio) Country Club’s new Aquatics Center.
Sylvania Country Club, in preparation for its centennial celebration in 2016, is undergoing a $2.3 million, member-funded growth and improvement project, the Second Century Campaign. The largest of the campaign projects is the $1.3 million renovation of the club’s pool and pavilion.
The aquatics center project opened to the club’s members on July 1 and features a state of the art zero depth entry pool, a mushroom fountain, resort style water slide and a separate new splash and play wading pool. The previous pool building was demolished to make way for the new pavilion which houses a full service poolside café and bar, new locker facilities and a breezeway unifying the tennis facilities with the aquatics center.
The project also includes the construction of a new hard tennis court adding to the club’s existing 5 Har-Tru courts and an expanded golf short game practice facility with construction beginning mid-August and a spring 2016 completion.
As for the club’s 18-hole golf course, Golf Course Architect J. Drew Rogers, ASGCA, has been hired to establish a long term improvement plan. The club’s restaurant, the Centennial Grille Room, underwent a complete renovation earlier this year and features new modern décor with a full service dine-at bar, wine lockers and contemporary menus.
