Unveiled during the Charlottesville, Va., club’s 4th of July celebration, the food truck offers a multitude of items ranging from tacos, funnel cake, donuts, fried pickles, burgers and cheese steaks, available for member events, tournaments, banquets, and more.
Farmington Country Club in Charlottesville, Va., debuted a new culinary amenity during its 4th of July celebration that banks on a nationwide trend—a food truck.
“Ultimately, the food truck is a more cost effective and efficient way to serve the needs of the FCC members around the property,” said COO/General Manager Joe Krenn, CCM.
The idea was first devised when the management team tried to figure out ways to creatively deliver food service during the construction of the club’s new grill.
“We envision it being used at member special events, golf & tennis tournaments, driving range, banquet events, etc. Another area it will be used is near the first tee on weekend mornings, where members can get a breakfast sandwich and cup of coffee before their round,” Krenn said.
The cost savings of not having to set up the grills and chaffing dishes around the property make the investment worthwhile, Krenn said. Unlike other food trucks, the club has a main kitchen to supplement the truck and have it offer a multitude of items ranging from tacos, funnel cake, donuts, fried pickles, burgers and cheese steaks.
“The reaction from the membership was great this weekend and they were excited to see us trying new things,” Krenn said.
The club also created a Twitter account, so members can follow and learn the next place the truck will show up around the property.
