Ducks are swimming in the puddles created on hole 16 of the Portland, Ore., club, after rainwater and snowmelt have pushed nearby Rock Creek over its banks. Flooding is a yearly occurrence for the property, and golfers are being kept on the front nine until the water recedes.
The back nine holes of the Rock Creek Country Club in Portland, Ore., are flooded—ducks are even swimming in the puddles created on hole 16, the Portland-based KGW News Channel 8 reported.
Rainwater and snowmelt have pushed the Rock Creek over its banks for the past several days. According to golf course staff, flooding happens at least once a year, KGW reported.
“If that creek overflows, there’s no place for the drainage to go, so we just have to wait until it recedes,” said golf pro Chuck DaSilva.
The club’s members are being kept on the front nine holes until the water goes down. Water levels receded overnight, but Washington County officials are watching them today with another round of heavy rain and wind ahead, KGW reported.
